Need satisfaction and organizational citizenship behaviour towards the organization. A process-oriented approach

Abstract Although citizenship behaviours can vary for each individual over the course of months, weeks, or even days, research has predominantly looked at this concept through a static lens. In paper, we combine between- and within-person level approach in examining circumstances under which people engage organizational towards organization (OCBO). Drawing from conservation resources theory, tested how fluctuations resources, represented by need satisfaction, relate to OCBO three different levels: between individuals, within as well time. Seventy-three volunteers working holiday camps filled out daily diary study eight consecutive measuring satisfaction (N = 439). Multilevel regression analyses revealed that individuals who were on average higher performed more OCBOs. At level, momentary levels related OCBO, whereas time, changes positively associated OCBO. Our focus evolvement OCBOs time gives us complete account not only engages but also circumstances, an understanding comes with important implications both theory practice.
